Alaina Lockhart, Member of Parliament for Fundy Royal, today announced investments of $33,962 for projects in Sussex. The work involves rehabilitation of an existing multi-purpose trail system in the Sussex region, connecting the Sussex Valley ATV Club with the SJ ATV Club. It also includes brush cutting, re-grading of trails, signage, culvert installation, and bridge installation.
Today’s announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).
These projects are being partly funded through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150). Funding in Atlantic Canada is delivered through ACOA. These investments, to honour Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation, will help create jobs, boost economic activity, strengthen communities and celebrate Canada’s rich heritage and history.
“Cultural and recreational activities and facilities form an essential part of every community. The Government of Canada recognizes that investing in them celebrates our heritage and improves the quality of life of all Canadians. These renewed facilities not only respond to the demand for community infrastructure improvements, but also provide us an opportunity to celebrate the people of this great country.”The Honourable Navdeep BainsMinister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA
“Investments in infrastructure build stronger, more inclusive communities, and make a difference in the lives of Canadians. Recreational amenities like the Sussex Valley ATV Inc. are crucial to communities like ours. This community organization is evidence of the community-spirit in our area and demonstration of a successful grass-roots movement that began with a passionate group of friends. From the early 1990’s, they have grown to allow fellow community members to share their passion for the sport and continue to be a testament to the importance of these recreational activities in the Sussex area and throughout our province. Investing in this organization allows us to assist them in their efforts to build vitality in our communities, raise the quality of life, stimulate economic activity, and expand the opportunities for likeminded residents of Fundy Royal.”Alaina LockhartMember of Parliament for Fundy Royal
